Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Alofon: Jurnal Pembelajaran Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia undergo a multi-stage review process to ensure the quality and scientific integrity of the publication.

The initial stage is a desk evaluation conducted by the editor to assess the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, the novelty of the topic, and compliance with the author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria will be returned to the authors without proceeding to the review stage.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will then undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which both the authors’ and reviewers’ identities are concealed. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The review process evaluates the manuscript’s originality, novelty, methodological rigor, depth of analysis, and contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

Based on the review results, reviewers provide recommendations to the editor with one of the following decisions: (1) accepted without revision; (2) accepted with minor revisions; (3) accepted with major revisions; or (4) rejected.

In cases where there is a significant discrepancy between reviewers’ evaluations, the editor may appoint a third reviewer to provide an additional assessment before making a final decision.

The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of the manuscript rests with the editor, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations. The review results, along with comments and suggestions for improvement, will be communicated to the authors for revision within the specified timeframe.

The review process from submission to final decision typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewers’ responsiveness and the revision cycle. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation as necessary, based on the editor’s decision and the extent of revisions made.
